Why More Couples Are Choosing One Location for Their Wedding Day

Having Your Ceremony and Reception at One Location

When we first started hosting weddings in 2016, the majority of ceremonies were held offsite. Since then, that trend has changed, and about 95% of our weddings now hold their ceremony here as well. There are many benefits to having everything in one location.

Easier for Guests

Being located in central Wisconsin, couples often use our venue as a destination wedding. Guests often travel from Appleton, Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee or even from out of state. Couples often find that having everything in one location makes the day easier for guests. Guests are able to check into their hotel before the ceremony and enjoy a more relaxed experience.

Later Ceremony Time

Instead of building extra travel time into the schedule for multiple locations, ceremonies are often held later in the afternoon. We’ve found that later ceremony times can also lead to a higher percentage of guests being present for the ceremony itself. Couples still have plenty of time afterward for photos while guests relax and enjoy cocktail hour.

Rehearsal Dinner Convenience

Many couples who host their ceremony here also choose to have their rehearsal dinner in the separate space located in lower level of the barn. This gives couples extra time to add those final finishing touches and allows everyone a chance to relax and enjoy the evening before the wedding day.

Most wedding photos are taken right at the venue. Guests can relax on our deck and enjoy cocktail hour while you use the natural landscapes around the property for photos. Once photos are completed, there is often time to freshen up and spend a few moments visiting with guests before dinner.

Want to Get Married Offsite? We Get It.

Perhaps you are considering having your ceremony at a church or another meaningful location. This works too! John and I were married in a church and had our reception at a different location.

If you choose this option, here are a few tips:

• Specify on your invitations what time the reception begins so guests do not arrive before the venue is open.

• Stick to your timeline for the bridal party to arrive at the reception venue—especially if dinner is being served at a scheduled time.

• Provide suggestions on your invitation or wedding website for local places guests can enjoy if there is time between the ceremony and reception.

Final Thoughts

Wedding planning should be an enjoyable process and not feel overly stressful. If it does, please reach out to us. We are always happy to provide suggestions and help make the process a little easier.

Whether you choose to host your ceremony and reception in one place or at separate locations, the most important thing is creating a day that allows you to enjoy the moments that matter most. Every wedding is unique, and finding the right flow for your day can help create a more relaxed experience for both you and your guests.
